New Zealand No 1 Marina Erakovic has been ousted in the first round of the Portugal Open in Oeiras.
Erakovic fell in straight sets to Spaniard Carla Suarez-Navarro 6-3, 6-0 at the US$220,000 clay court event.
Suarez-Navarro was a finalist at the event last year before falling to Estonia's Kaia Kanepi.
Erakovic has now progressed past the first round of a tournament just once in her last five attempts after winning her first career title in Memphis two months ago.
