New Zealand have lost their Davis Cup tie against India with two matches remaining.
With Dan King-Turner and Rubin Statham losing their first matches, New Zealand needed to win the doubles match to have any hope of winning the Asia/Oceania Group I relegation playoff in Chandigarh, India. Unfortunately for the Kiwis, King-Turner and Michael Venus lost to Vishnu Varham and Divij Sharan 6-7(5) 6-4 3-6 7-6(5) 3-6.
The reverse singles will be played this afternoon (Sun NZ time), with Michael Venus and Artem Sitak to take the court for New Zealand.
The Kiwis will now play away to Chinese Taipei on October 19-21 in a bid to remain in Asia/Oceania Group I.
