Auckland's Heineken Open defending champion is showing terrific form at the Tennis Masters Cup in Shanghai.
Spaniard David Ferrer, who will return to defend his title in January, is on the verge of the semifinals in the season ending event.
Ferrer has beaten compatriot and world number two Rafael Nadal in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to follow up his win over third ranked Novak Djokovic. He says all the players work hard but he is full of confidence in his first Masters Cup and does not feel any pressure.
Frenchman Richard Gasquet has kept his semi final hopes alive with a straight sets win, 6-4, 6-2 over Djokovic, who is out of contention for a semifinal place.
