Frenchwoman Alize Cornet has sent last year';s runner-up Elena Vesnina crashing out of the ASB tennis Classic in Auckland.
Cornet, who beat New Zealand';s Marina Erakovic in the first round, has thrashed the Russian 6-1, 6-1 in one hour and 12 minutes.
She is the sixth player through to the quarterfinals.
Third seed Yanina Wickmayer is one of those to have advanced, beating Romania';s Ioana Raluca Olaru 6-2, 6-2.
Wickmayer says it was not an easy match as Olaru mixes her game up a lot.
Top seed Flavia Pennetta, fourth seed Francesca Schiavone, Israel';s Shahar Peer and Russian Maria Kirilenko are the other players to have moved through to the quarter-finals.
