China's Ying-Ying Duan has taken out her first singles title at US$25,000 Challenger level as she emphatically won the final of the Configure Express Pro Women's tournament at Wellington's Renouf Tennis Centre.
Duan, seeded eighth and ranked at 353, defeated fifth-seeded Polish player Sandra Zaniewska of Poland, who is ranked at 294, 6-1 6-4 in just over an hour today (Sunday). The match was moved indoors due to the weather conditions.
"I was very relaxed today and not nervous at all. I had a good tournament," Duan, 22, said. "It's a good boost for my confidence and ranking."
