One of the biggest results in his career so far for Queenstown tennis player Ben McLachlan this week.
Ranked 287 in doubles McLachlan has finished as a beaten finalist at the US$100,000 Aptos Challenger in California.
McLachlan, 24, teamed with American Mackenzie McDonald to reach the final as an unseeded pair before they were defeated by South Africans Nicolaas Scholtz and Tucker Vorster 7-6(5) 3-6 8-10.
McLachlan's ranking should improve to around the 250 mark as a result of the finals finish.
