KEY POINTS:
Michaella Krajicek, the player who won the 2004 US junior doubles title alongside Kiwi Marina Erakovic, is the latest player to sign up for January's ASB Classic.
The Dutch 18-year-old is the sister of former Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek. Although she has three singles titles to her name, the world No 34's most impressive result also came at Wimbledon, where she reached the quarter-finals this year before being ousted in three sets by Marion Bartoli.
Another good result came at the tier one event in Charleston where she defeated top seed Nicole Vaidisova in the second round, then 15th seed Sybille Bammer before losing to ninth seed Vera Zvonareva in the quarters.
"Michaella is going to be a real highlight of the Classic," tournament director Richard Palmer said. "She's new, she's talented and has already had significant results in her career. She will add an extra dimension to the draw and could well be there as the tournament heads towards its final stages.
"Dutch players traditionally attract some good partisan support here, so we look forward to seeing plenty of orange shirts in the stands."
Ranked No 1 as a junior, Krajicek won the 2004 girls' singles title at the US Open, as well as enjoying doubles success with Erakovic.
It will be Krajicek's first appearance in Auckland. She is the second player confirmed following last week's announcement that former world No 1 Lindsay Davenport is coming.
The full draw is to be revealed tomorrow. The Classic runs from December 31 to January 5.
