Artem Sitak has joined Michael Venus and Marcus Daniell in reaching the second round of the men's doubles at the US Open in New York.
The Kiwi number two and his Indian partner Divij Sharan have beaten the American wildcard pair of Martin Redlicki and Evan Zhu 6-4 6-4 in 1 hour 22.
Serving was the key for Sitak and Sharan who saved four break points against their serve in the match and converted two of their six break point chances, one in each set.
"It was a great start for us but a bit tricky because we didn't know them that well. All we could do was focus on ourselves and we did that well because we didn't get broken throughout the whole match," Sitak said.
Sitak and Sharan are playing together for the first time in a month with the Indian representing his country at the Asian Games, but there were no signs of any rustiness as they quickly took control.
