Another week, another title for Taranaki teen, Ajeet Rai. The 17-year-old won the ITF Waikato-Bays Under 18s Championships over the weekend to go with the title at the Auckland ITF (International Tennis Federation) Indoor Junior Championships the previous week.
Rai beat second seeded Australian Chaise Ferguson 7-5 6-7(2) 6-2 in the final in Hamilton after earlier taking care of third seed Connor Di Marco (Australia) 0-6 6-3 6-3 in the semis.
Canterburys Dylan Heap was the other singles semifinalist.
In the boys doubles Rai and Aucklander Connor Williamson contested the final but were defeated by Di Marco and Ferguson 3-6 7-5 10-7.
Taurangas Ashleigh Harvey, 17 reached the girls final for the second week running and again was beaten by top seed Lisa Mays from Australia 6-2 6-2 .
Janvi Clark (Waikato) made the semifinals of singles and doubles where she teamed with Harvey. The girls doubles final was fought out by two Australian pairs.
