Winning their second round matches were Artem Sitak who was able to come through against new national 18s champ Ajeet Rai, but took three sets to do so while top seed Finn Tearney, Wesley Whitehouse, Riki McLachlan and Ben McLachlan were all straight set winners in their matches.
The quarter-finals clashes will have Tearney against Riki McLachlan, then the two unseeded players Reynolds and Whaanga while the bottom part of the draw features Sitak facing Romero and Ben McLachlan taking on Whitehouse.
The women's draw had top seed Erin Routliffe looking comfortable as she accounted for her local opponent in straight sets. Routliffe was born in New Zealand and lived here until she was four-years-old but now lives in Canada, however she is eligible to play for New Zealand and despite attending university in the United States on a tennis scholarship she has a WTA singles ranking around the 600 mark and was a former world top 20 ranked junior.
Routliffe, 20 will now take on eighth seed Nina Parapovich in the quarters while third seed Jade Lewis, the daughter of former Davis Cup player David Lewis cruised into the quarters and will play sixth seed Claudia Williams who spent around three hours on the court to defeat Waikato's Janvhi Clark.
Third seed Paige Hourigan plays Leela Beattie in her quarter-final in what will be a telling encounter while second seed Jo Carswell won easily to set up a contest against new national 18s champion Lauren Alter.
As expected top 100 ranked doubles players Daniell and Sitak won their quarter-final doubles match easily.
Singles quarter-finals matches are set to play from 10am at the Albany Tennis Park. The tournament continues until Saturday 17 December with the semis and finals held at the ASB Tennis Arena. The men's singles winner gains a wildcard into the ASB Classic singles main draw and women's singles winner into the ASB Classic qualifying tournament.
