Novak Djokovic considering Rio Olympic Games tilt after shock Wimbledon defeat to Sam Querrey

Novak Djokovic will reconsider plans to contest the Rio Olympics after crushing Wimbledon defeat.

Shattered by third-round defeat to American Sam Querrey, Djokovic immediately aborted plans to represent Serbia in Davis Cup.

And he would not confirm Games participation after Querrey ended his run of four successive major wins with a 7-6 (8-6) 6-1 3-6 7-6 (7-5) triumph.

With his calendar grand slam dreams obliterated, the world champion was asked about his playing schedule, including Rio.

"We'll see. I have to think about it," he said, revealing he would take a break from the sport after suffering only his fourth loss this season.

"It's disappointing, of course, losing at a grand slam hurts more than any other tournament. There is no doubt about that.

"Thankfully I have a family and I have a life outside of tennis. I have plenty of things to look forward to.

"I'm going to obviously pay more attention to those things than tennis in the next period. I need it.

"It's been a very successful year so far, but very long one, exhausting one, in every sense of that word. I just need some rest."

The first man since Jim Courier in 1992 to win the first two majors of the season, Djokovic was a short-priced favourite to win a third successive Wimbledon crown.

Bidding to become the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four grand slam titles in the same year, Djokovic was overwhelmed by 28th seed Querrey's powerful serve.

It was Djokovic's first defeat in 31 grand slam matches and his first since losing to Stan Wawrinka in last season's French Open decider.
