Kiwi tennis pro Michael Venus has reached the doubles final at the US$50,000 Challenger at Winnetka, Illinois.
Venus had earlier won his first round singles before he was beaten by the second seed and top-100 ranked Steve Johnson (United States) in straight sets.
Teaming with India's Yuki Bhambri they defeated the second-seeded American pair, Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren 7-6(2) 7-6(3) in the semifinals and will now play top seed Chris Guccinone (Australia) and James Cerretani (United States) for the title this weekend.
New Zealand No 1 Rubin Statham is in the Futures doubles final at Kashiwa in Japan partnering Japan's Hiroki Kondo to score several easy wins so far. In singles Statham was defeated in the quarter-finals in three sets.
At the Dutch Futures, Sebastian Lavie reached the second round of singles and quarter-finals of doubles while Marcus Daniell made the singles second round at the British Futures and Jordan Kelly-Houston qualified for singles but was beaten by a seeded player in the first round.
