Kiwi tennis players excel around the world

Its been a good week so far for New Zealand tennis players around the world with significant victories in a wide variety of tournaments.

Kiwi singles No.1 Finn Tearney is in to the quarter-finals of the US$25,000 Futures tournament in Brisbane and plays American Jamere Jenkins today for a place in the semifinals.

Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe are through to the semifinals at the ATP tournament in Chengdu, China. In their latest match they beat an Indian pair in straight sets and will now face top seeds Raven Klaasen (South Africa) and Rajeev Ram (United States) for a place in the finals.

At the ATP event in Shenzhen, China Michael Venus and Mate Pavic (Croatia) are also into the semifinals after a win over Jonathan Erlich (Israel) and Santiago Gonzalez (Mexico) in straight sets. They play Fabio Fogninni (Italy) and Robert Lindstedt (Sweden) in the semis.

Queenstowns Ben McLachlan had a good win in the first round of the US$1000,000 Challenger at Tiburon, California. McLachlan teamed with American Mackenzie McDonald to defeat Yuki Bhambri (India) and John Paul Fruttero (United States) 6-3 4-6 10-3.

At the euro 106,500 Orleans Challenger in France Marcus Daniell and Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner are the top seeds and have won in to the quarter-finals.
