New Zealand tennis player Finn Tearney has scored one of the best wins of his career with a victory over the top seed at the US$750,000 Challenger at Gatineau in Canada.
Tearney ranked 388 going into the tournament won through qualifying before coming from a set down to defeat the highly rated Frenchman Quentin Halys who entered the tournament at 138 by a score of 2-6 6- 6-0 in one hour 37 minutes.
"Its great for because Ive been struggling a bit with confidence recently. So its nice to finally get a decent win."
Tearney has this week been confirmed in the New Zealand Davis Cup team to play Pakistan in New Zealand 16-18 September alongside Rubin Statham, Michael Venus and Marcus Daniell.
