A big week for New Zealand tennis player around the world.
Marina Erakovic is in the main draw of the Gstaad WTA event in Switzerland. She faces German Annika Beck who is the fifth seed in the first round. They have clashed once previously with Erakovic winning in three sets in Memphis in 2013.
At the ATP tournament in Hamburg Michael Venus and Mate Pavic are the fourth seeds with a first round match against Frenchmen Jeremy Chardy and Stephane Robert.
In Sweden a the Bastad ATP event Marcus Daniell is teaming up with Brazilian Marcelo Demoliner. They play Portuguese team Gastao Elias and Joao Sousa . Also in Bastad is Artem Sitak who is combining with Nicohlas Monroe as the third seeds. They are up against a Russian pair in the first round.
At the US$75,000 Winnipeg Challenger in Canada Finn Tearney was the top seed in the qualifying but was beaten by former Kiwi, now Brit Cameron Norrie by the unusual score of 1-6 6-1 7-6(4) in the final round of qualifying. Tearney and Norrie now team up in doubles in the main draw.
