New Zealands Michael Venus and American doubles partner Ryan Harrison are through to the final of the Estoril ATP tournament in Portugal after saving three match points in their semifinal.
They defeated Ariel Behar (Uruguay) and Aliaksandr Bury (Belarus) 4-6 7-6 (7) 10-3 saving a match point at 4-5 in the second set and rallying back from 4-6 down in the second set tiebreak as well to ultimately prevail in one hour 40 minutes.
It is the first ATP final for Venus this year after he made nine finals in 2016. Venus is currently ranked 41 in the world in doubles.
The Kiwi and American will face the experienced Spanish duo of David Marrero and Tommy Robredo in the final tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile in Istanbul, Turkey it was a quarter-final loss for Kiwi Artem Sitak and American Nicholas Monroe against Antonio Sancic (Croatia) and Adil Shamasdin (Canada) 3-6 6-1 8-10.
