New Zealands Marina Erakovic has narrowly made the official main draw of the 2017 Australian Open.
Erakovic ranked at 105 in the world is the third to last player to make the womens direct entries.
The Australian Open released the entry list last night with Erakovic followed by Sara Sorribes Torno (Spain) at 106 and Patricia Maria Tig (Romania) at 107 the final two entries.
Erakovic recently played two WTA Challenger tournaments where she gained valuable ranking points.
Prizemoney at the Australian Open for the first round singles is $A38,500.
Erakovic will join three other New Zealanders in the Open. Michael Venus, Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak will all compete in the mens doubles main draw. However next week they are taking part in the New Zealand national tournament the Pascoes NZ Champs.
The two new world No.1s - defending Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber and five-time finalist Andy Murray - will be top seeds in Melbourne.
The all-star player field will also feature six-time champion, No.2 Novak Djokovic, wholl be aiming to hoist the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup for a record seventh time. Six-time Australian Open champion Serena Williams (USA) also has an eye on the record books as she begins her campaign for a 23rd Grand Slam singles title, to surpass Steffi Graff and set a new record for the Open Era.
