Marina Erakovic is into the last four of the doubles event at the ASB Classic, a slight consolation after her singles exit on Wednesday.
Erakovic and Spanish partner Silvia Soler-Espinosa beat the second seeded combination of Julia Goerges (Germany) and Katarina Srebotnik (Slovenia) 6-4 4-6 10-7 in Wednesday's night's quarterfinal.
Erakovic hasn't played with Soler-Espinosa for almost a decade, but the duo have struck up a great understanding at this tournament.
They dominated their more experienced opponents for most of the match, and then made no race of the tie break.
Erakovic and Soler-Espinosa play their semi final on Friday, against either the Belgian duo of Elise Mertens and An-Sophie Mestach or Maria Irigoyen and Barbora Krejcikova.
