Argentine David Nalbandian has withdrawn from the remainder of the invitational Kooyong Classic tennis tournament.
World No 5 Nalbandian retired with an upset stomach while trailing Germany's Nicolas Kiefer 6-3, 3-2 in his opening match.
The Argentine, 24, had said he would try to play his remaining two matches in the tournament but organisers said he was still battling the effects of the flu and had withdrawn to ensure he was fit for next week's Australian Open.
