Marina Erakovic has been dumped out of the Australian Open in the first round, losing in straight sets to seventh seed Garbine Muguruza.
Erakovic had plenty of chances against the 2016 French Open winner, leading 4-1 in the second set before failing to win another game in an eventual 7-5, 6-4 defeat.
She started the match strongly, and even had a set point up 5-4, but Muguruza hit a thumping serve, eventually holding and then breaking Erakovic in the following game.
Needing a medical timeout in the break for a thigh injury, Muguruza struggled out of the gate in the second set, and Erakovic looked poised to send it to a decider.
However, Erakovic's forehand deserted her as unforced errors piled up, finishing with 34 as a hobbled Muguruza did enough to claim victory.
