Australian Tennis Open runner-up Marcos Baghdatis has climbed 27 places to a career-high 27th in the new world rankings.
Roger Federer consolidated his position at the top with his seventh grand slam title.
Nicolas Kiefer climbed 13 places to 12th after reaching the semi-finals, while Lleyton Hewitt has slipped to 11th following his second-round defeat.
Meanwhile, the mother of Marcos Baghdatis is recovering from a minor operation after being taken to hospital during the Australian Open final.
His mother Andri had complained of stomach pains during the first set and the pain worsened as the match went on.
It is understood that gall stones were the problem.
Baghdatis is expected to receive a hero's welcome when he returns to Cyprus on Saturday.
He will receive a gift from the state of 150,000 Cypriot pounds, or 465 thousand New Zealand dollars.
His home town of Limassol plans to name a street after him, but there is no word yet on whether he will receive an exemption from compulsory military service.
