Marcos Baghdatis produced a bizarre outburst at the Australian Open yesterday when he smashed four racquets in succession during a break in his second round clash against Stanislas Wawrinka.
Trailing by two sets against the 21st seed, Baghdatis took out his frustration during a change of ends - destroying two of the racquets without even taking them out of their plastic wrappings.
The 2006 Australian Open runner up and world number 43 left the commentators stunned: "That's two. Doesn't even bother taking it out of the bag, that's three. And one for luck," one commentator says.
The outburst seemed to work briefly for the Cypriot as he went on to win the third set before losing the match 7-6 6-4 5-7 6-1.
