The significant results keep coming for New Zealand tennis players in doubles with another title and another final.
Michael Venus and Croatian doubles partner Mate Pavic have won the title at s-Hertogenbosch tournament in the Netherlands beating Brit Dominic Inglot and South African Raven Klaasen 3-6 6-3 11-9. It is their fourth ATP title of 2016 after earlier wins at Auckland, Montpellier and Marseille. They were also finalists at Nice.
With four titles to their name it also means that Venus and Pavic are the leading team on the ATP tennis tour for titles this year. The title was their first on grass and bodes well in their build up to Wimbledon which starts in two weeks.
"Its a great result. We know how to play the tiebreaks and feel secure on the tight points and have confidence from so many matches weve won throughout the year. After the disappointment of the French Open its nice to come back with a win on grass. Were playing well as a team," said Venus.
However Venus will not team up with Pavic in their next tournament as their rankings of 43 and 39 would not get them in to the main draw at Halle. Venus will instead play with world No.6 singles player Keir Nishikori of Japan. They play the strong Colombian team of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the first round in Halle.
