The Paralympics New Zealand junior development team picked up 19 gold medals in the pool at the Australian national junior championship in Sydney, with the promise of more to come in track-and-field and basketball.
Spearheaded by 12-year-old Sophie Pascoe, of Christchurch, with seven gold, and Cameron Leslie, 15, of Whangarei, with six gold, the six-strong team also picked up four silver medals, broke six New Zealand records and recorded nine personal bests.
