American Michael Phelps improved his own world record in the men's 200m butterfly yesterday with a time of 1m 53.71s at the Missouri Grand Prix swimming meeting.
Phelps bettered the previous world mark of 1m 53.80s he set on August 17 at the Pan Pacific Championships in Victoria, Canada, last year.
