Swimming: Pascoe wins gold, Fisher silver

Canterbury swimmer Sophie Pascoe has won her second gold medal at the IPC world swimming championships in Montreal.

Pascoe won the SB9 category 100m breaststroke final today, clocking 1min 17.53s.

Britain's Harriet Lee was second in 1:18.88 while Khrystyna Yurchenko of the Ukraine took bronze in 1:88.89.

Pascoe won her first gold medal on the opening day of competition, in the 100m freestyle.

Northland's Cameron Leslie also won a bronze medal in the S5 50m backstroke, in 43.78s, behind Daniel Dias of Brazil and Andrew Mullen of Britain.

Leslie just snatched third by a blink, finishing .07s ahead of Turkey's Beytullah Eroglu.

Wellington's Mary Fisher followed Pascoe's gold with a silver medal in her 400m freestyle final.

Fisher, who has a genetic eye condition, was beaten by Paralympic gold medallist Daniela Schulte of Germany, who touched in 5min 25.24s. Fisher, who has already won two gold medals earlier in the championships, was second in 5:28.06, with Olga Iakibiuk third 28s behind Fisher.
