Swimming: Loader retires

Double Olympic Games swimming gold medallist Danyon Loader announced his retirement from the sport last night.

Loader, aged 25, said he had given up trying to qualify for the Sydney Olympics.

"I've been swimming competitively since 1987," he said, "and the desire and incentive to race has diminished."
