West Auckland swimmer Michael Jack broke a New Zealand record on the opening night of finals at the World Cup in Singapore on Saturday.
Jack, a specialist 200m freestyler, showed good speed to establish the new mark in the final of the 100m freestyle.
He clocked 47.77 seconds in finishing fourth in the final, taking nearly 2/10ths of a second off the previous record held by Beijing Olympian Cameron Gibson.
