New Zealand swimmers have won nine medals including four golds on the first day of pool competition at the Oceania Championships in Samoa.
North Shore's Andrew McMillan led the way with two golds in the 200 freestyle and 200 butterfly. The other gold medals were at both ends of the swimming spectrum with Samantha Lee winning the 50m butterfly sprint and Dylan Dunlop-Barrett best in the men's 1500m freestyle.
Shaun Burnett claimed silver in the 200m butterfly while Jessie Blundell and Sophia Batchelor picked up silver and bronze medals respectively in the 100m backstroke.
The other medals went to Samantha Lucie-Smith, who grabbed a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle and Charlotte Webby, from Bell Block near New Plymouth, who won a bronze in the 200m butterfly.
