Dean Kent became the second New Zealand swimmer to reach a final at the world championships today qualifying in eighth place following the men's 200m individual medley semifinals in Montreal.
Kent nabbed the last spot after clocking two minutes 01:55 seconds to finish fourth in the second semifinal.
He produced a big swim to beat his heat time earlier today of 2min 02.35sec.
Kent's North Shore clubmate Hannah McLean earlier reached the 50m backstroke final following her fifth placing in the 100m final yesterday.
