Counties Manukau swimmer Carsten Corazza scored New Zealand's second gold medal at the Fina Oceania Championships in New Caledonia last night.
The 21-year-old from the Howick-Pakuranga club took out the men's 400m individual medley outdoors at the Noumea Aquatic Centre.
Corazza, coached by Gary Hollywood, the head coach of the New Zealand Oceania team, won in emphatic style, finishing more than four seconds clear of Australia's Kenneth To with Dunedin's Matthew Glassford third.
He led a four-medal haul for New Zealand in the pool tonight to bring their tally to eight medals so far.
The other medals tonight included a silver for Dunedin's Kurt Crosland in the 50m backstroke, just 18/100ths of a second behind Australian Ben Edmonds, reversing the result in the 100m freestyle won by the kiwi on the first night of pool action.
