New Zealand swim coach Jan Cameron is putting on a brave face after a disappointing performance by her team at the Pan Pacific Championships in Canada.
The team never came close to winning any medals, and barely qualified for any 'A' finals, although several improved their personal best times.
Dean Kent was the only swimmer to make an A final on the final day, eventually finishing seventh.
Overall, the best results were a couple of fourth placings.
Cameron has a simple and short answer as to whether she is happy, and that answer is "no".
Cameron went on to point out that after a break following the Commonwealth Games, the meet was not really about winning medals, but was more about gaining an idea of where they are in the world and what they need to do to improve with the goal being next year's world championships.
Cameron says coming up against the likes of American Michael Phelps who broke several of his own world records, did not make them feel inadequate.
She says the Americans live and breathe to swim, and gave her swimmers more drive to get to the same level.
