Leading swimmers set themselves up for a big night of finals on the third day of the world championship trials in Auckland this morning.
Most of the established stars worked comfortably through the morning heats ahead of tonight's finals at the West Wave Aquatic Centre in Waitakere City.
They included Commonwealth Games representatives Annabelle Carey, who topped qualifiers in the 100m breaststroke, Melissa Ingram, who edged North shore teammate Hannah McLean in heats of the 200m backstroke, Corney Swanepoel heading Moss Burmester in the heats of the 50m butterfly, Dean Kent on top of the 200m individual medley and Helen Norfolk in the 400m freestyle.
Rotorua's Kane Radford was fastest in the men's 400m freestyle heats in a personal best 4 minutes 02.62 seconds as he prepared for next week's Australian open water championships.
North Shore's Megan Allan was quickest in the 200m butterfly heats, while 16-year-old Kurt Bassett set the standard in the 200m backstroke heats.
