MELBOURNE - The Ukrainian swim coach captured on camera in an ugly skirmish with his daughter at Melbourne's world championships has been banned from coaching for six years.
FINA slapped Mikhaylo Zubkov, 38, with the ban following a disciplinary hearing.
The international governing body for swimming found Zubkov guilty of breaching FINA's code of conduct and bringing the sport into disrepute.
Zubkov was filmed pushing and shoving his daughter Kateryna Zubkova, 18, during an altercation in a marshalling area at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday.
The pair clashed over a Ukrainian boy Kateryna was seeing against her father's approval.
FINA revoked Zubkov's accreditation hours after the incident, which was beamed around the world.
The disciplinary panel heard evidence from both Zubkov and his daughter but was unmoved.
Police imposed an interim intervention order on the Ukrainian swim coach, banning him from contacting or coming within 200 metres of Kateryna.
The order was lifted by a magistrate when Zubkov made an undertaking to not to repeat the conduct that landed him in court.
Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard the pair clashed over a personal matter that was not related to Kateryna's performance in the pool.
