Hawaiian surfer Jamie O'Brien produced a major boilover when he won the 2004 Rip Curl Pro Pipeline Masters in Hawaii yesterday.
The 21-year-old, a wildcard entry, convincingly beat three world-ranked opponents in the final contested in big waves at Banzai Pipeline.
O'Brien dominated the all-Hawaiian final from his opening ride, leaving former world champion Sunny Garcia, Kalani Robb and former Pipeline Masters winner Bruce Irons in need of a two-wave scoring combination on the final siren of the year.
O'Brien included a near-perfect 9.97 ride to finish on a total of 17.93 out of a possible 20.
