Maz Quinn remained on target to win his fifth national surfing title after qualifying comfortably yesterday for the final off Taranaki.
Quinn was all class in the first four-man semifinal at Stent Rd, beating Leon Santorik of Raglan.
Santorik was second in the semifinal and also advances to the final, beating Richard Christie and Raglan's Zennor Wernham.
The second semifinal saw Raglan's Daniel Kereopa and Taranaki's Motu Mataa advance to the four-man final ahead of Taranaki's Simon Deken and junior finalist Billy Stairmand of Raglan.
The four women's finalists are Jessica Santorik, Sandy Bay's Wini Paul, Canterbury's Daisy Thomas and local favourite Paige Hareb.
