NZ Women's Open winner and wildcard entry, Sarah Mason, has been knocked out in Round Two of the Subaru Pro repechage after being defeated by Brazilian, Silvana Lima, in heat three.
Despite Mason's last minute attempts to grab a score of 4.76 to take the lead in the heat, she could only manage a 3.1.
Lima went on to secure her victory with a final wave score of 6.5 giving her a combined total of 12.0. Mason finished with 8.1.
Meanwhile in heat one of the Round Two repechage, veteran Australian surfer Chelsea Hedges narrowly defeated Jessi Miley-Dyer in heat one.
Hedges had a combined wave score of 13.75 with Miley-Dyer unable to improve on her 12.65 in the final minutes of the heat.
Peruvian surfer Sofia Mulanovich, 7.25, was defeated in heat two by Rebecca Woods who scored a 10.5 and also the highest scoring wave of the day with an 8.5.
Heat four saw Tyler Wright with a 14.4, edge out Brazilian surfer Claire Bevilacqua who managed to score a 13.25.
In heat five, Hawaiian Coco Ho had a tight victory over tour rookie Alana Blanchard. Ho scored 11.0 with Blanchard coming extremely close with 10.35.
Round Three is scheduled to start today at 3pm with the heat draws as follows:
Heat 1: Silvana Lima, Tyler Wright, Rebecca Woods.
Heat 2: Carissa Moore, Courtney Conlogue, Pauline Ado.
Heat 3: Sally Fitzgibbons, Chelsea Hedges, Melanie Bartels.
Heat 4: Stephanie Gilmore, Coco Ho, Paige Hareb.
