Sarah Mason of Gisborne stole the show, top-scoring during round 1 of the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast of Australia on Sunday.
Mason picked off the best of what conditions had to offer, netting near perfect 8.33 and 9.63 scores (both out of 10.00) to advance in first place ahead of Nage Melamed (HAW) and Julia Meneghel (BRA).
The Billabong ASP World Junior Championship is the final stop on the 2011 ASP World Junior Tour and takes place at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast of Australia from January 21- 29, 2012. The event features the top 45 Junior Men plus three wildcards and the top 17 Women plus one wildcard.
