Eight days of celebrations after securing his first national surfing title could not stop Raglan's Daniel Kereopa from storming to victory at the Billabong Pro event at Whangamata yesterday.
Kereopa scored 7.40 late in the four-man final to move from third to first.
He headed second-placed Paco Divers from Sandy Bay, followed by Gisborne pair Nathan Welch and Bobby Hansen, the defending champion. Quinn brothers, Maz and Jay, were eliminated in the semifinals.
