Surfing: Duel for world title continues

The intense two-man duel for the world surfing title resumed with honours even yesterday as Americans Kelly Slater and Andy Irons won their opening heats in Brazil, taking them directly to the third round.

Irons must place higher in the event to retain hope of a fourth straight world title and prevent Slater from claiming a record seventh crown.
