Surf lifesaverJanes joins Ironman elite

New Zealand surf lifesaver Mike Janes joined the elite of the sport yesterday after being given a wildcard into the lucrative Ironman series.

The 25-year-old, who trains with the Kurrawa club on Queensland's Gold Coast, joined Australian star Zane Holmes and two-time American champion Brian Murphy in the lineup for the series, which starts in November.
