The Super 12 rugby final between the Brumbies and Crusaders is heading for a sellout with only a handful of tickets remaining after seats were snapped up rapidly today.
Only standing room tickets remained available at Canberra Stadium as Australians and ex-pat New Zealanders flooded the internet when several thousands seats were released at 11am (NZT).
Reserved seating sold out in less than two hours.
The record crowd at Canberra Stadium is 27,489, set when the Brumbies went down to the Crusaders by 20-19 in the 2000 Super 12 Final.
The Stadium's capacity will be about 28,000 for the 2004 rematch after temporary seating was erected at one end of the ground.
A Canterbury Rugby Football Union spokesman said she was unaware of any charter flights ferrying Crusaders supporters across the Tasman but still expected the four-time champions would have pockets of support in what promises to be a hostile and chilly atmosphere.
