Englishman Simon Parke produced one of the most remarkable comebacks of his career as he beat Australian Stewart Boswell in five games to reach the quarter-finals of the World Open squash championship in Antwerp yesterday.
Parke was 3-10 down in the second game and 0-7 down in the fourth before saving a match point and toppling fourth seed Stewart Boswell, of Australia, 7-15, 15-13, 5-15, 17-15, 15-12.
But another Australian, Anthony Ricketts, did win. His impressive volleying and speedy court coverage helped him to outplay Malaysia's seventh-seeded Ong Beng Hee 15-8, 15-8, 15-5.
That earned Ricketts a quarter-final against top seed and defending champion Peter Nicol, of Britain, who beat Pakistan's Mansoor Zaman convincingly, 15-8, 15-8, 15-11.
