New Zealand were beaten 2-1 by the United States at the world men's team squash championships in Pakistan overnight (NZ time).
The loss came in the penultimate round of the playoffs and was the third loss for the 11th seeded New Zealand at the championships.
American No 2 Julian Illingworth beat Callum O'Brien 9-2 4-9 9-6 9-2 in the opening match.
New Zealand No 1 Kashif Shuja was then beaten 9-1 6-9 9-6 10-8 in 62 minutes by Preston Quick, with Campbell Grayson scoring New Zealand's only point in the best of three games dead rubber, beating Chris Gordon 9-6 9-1.
New Zealand will now play Kuwait in the battle for 15th place tomorrow.
