New Zealand was beaten 2-1 by Switzerland in their latest match at the world teams squash championship in Paderborn, Germany.
The New Zealanders will now face Pakistan as they play off for places 17-24.
New Zealand No 2 Campbell Grayson was the solitary winner for his side against Switzerland, as he defeated Reiko Peter 11-5 11-7 11-6 in 35 minutes.
Top-ranked New Zealander Martin Knight was beaten by world No 33 Nicolas Mueller 11-2 11-5 11-2 while Wellington's Evan Williams lost to John Williams 11-5 11-6 11-3.
