New Zealand's squash queen Carol Owens won the US$37,000 ($74,960) US Open championship crown in New York today.
Owens, the world No 1, was forced to work hard before seeing off England's Tania Bailey in the final.
Top seed Owens prevailed 9-7 9-1 10-8 after 43 minutes on court at the Heights Casino Club.
It was her 42nd appearance in the final of a Wispa (Women's International Squash Players' Association) world tour event, and her first title since triumphing in the Malaysian Open in August.
