New Zealand have progressed to the second round of the lower section playoffs at the world teams squash championship in Pakistan.
Seeded 11th, New Zealand today beat Spain 2-1 to set up a clash against the winners between the United States and Ireland in the next round of the 13th to 22nd playoffs in Islamabad.
Kashif Shuja found world number 47 Borja Golan too hot to handle, battling hard but eventually going down 4-9 5-9 9-10 in 45 minutes.
However, Campbell Grayson squared the ledger by beating Alejandro Garbi 9-5 9-1 3-9 9-3 before Callum O'Brien sealed the tie for New Zealand with a comfortable 9-3 9-3 9-3 win over Vidal Villamide in 46 minutes.
