KEY POINTS:
New Zealand's Shelley Kitchen has stunned the squash world by upsetting world number one Nicol David of Malaysia in the second round of World Open in Madrid, AFP reported today.
David's dreams of achieving a hat-trick of world titles were shattered by the 10th-seeded Kitchen, who won the match 9-0 9-1 2-9 3-9 9-6.
Kitchen blew David off the court in the first two games but had to repel a late comeback from the Malaysian, who was also upset in last month's British Open final by Australia's Rachael Grinham.
It is the second time Kitchen has beaten the Malaysian in a major international tournament, after winning their bronze medal playoff at the Commonwealth Games last year.
Kitchen will play fifth seeded American Natalie Grainger for a place in the semifinals.
