New Zealander Shelly Kitchen's first start as world women's squash No 11 has ended in defeat, losing her first round match at the Kuwait Open to Malaysian Nicol David.
The New Zealand No 1 said a recent dose of the 'flu contributed to her 8-10 3-9 5-9 loss in 35 minutes to the world No 4.
Her next tournament is the the Texas Open, starting on April 5.
