Former world No 1 Leilani Rorani battled through to the quarter-finals of the women's squash singles yesterday, eliminating junior world champion Nicol David, of Malaysia, in a tough four-game encounter.
Rorani, who had played just three domestic tournaments before Manchester after a six-month layoff following an Achilles tendon rupture, was given a torrid workout, needing 47 minutes to subdue the world No 16 and tournament 11th seed 9-5, 8-10, 9-5, 9-2.
